Beneful vs Do you know which Holistic Pet food this is?

Have you ever looked at the ingredients in a bag of Beneful and compared it to a Holistic Brand of dog food…?

Here are the ingredients for the Beneful Healthy Harvest you be the judge…

Ground yellow corn, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), soy protein concentrate, soybean meal, pearled barley, brewers rice, tricalcium phosphate, sugar, water, animal digest, sorbitol, phosphoric acid, salt, potassium chloride, L-Lysine monohydrochloride, calcium carbonate, sorbic acid (a preservative), dried spinach, dried sweet potatoes, dried apples, dicalcium phosphate, choline chloride, calcium propionate (a preservative), DL-Methionine, added color (Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 2, Yellow 6), zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, Vitamin E supplement, manganese sulfate, Vitamin A supplement, niacin, Vitamin B-12 supplement, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin supplement, copper sulfate, biotin, garlic oil, thiamine hydrochloride, pyridoxine hydrochloride, thiamine mononitrate, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), calcium iodate, sodium selenite.

Do you see any real meat in this product? I don’t! I see corn, wheat, and soy (the first few ingredients in this food) are the three most common allergy causing ingredients for dogs.  So, if your dog is experiencing itchy skin, watery eyes, ear infections, or red paws…your dog’s food may contain these common allergens.  Animal fat and animal digest are ingredients from unidentified sources, making it impossible to determine quality or nutritional value.  Synthetic vitamin K, which has been linked to liver problems, is also on the list.  Finally, there is NO excuse for artificial  coloring in any pet food. ( Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 2, Yellow 6) I would not give those colorings to my children in their foods!) Most popular pet foods look similar to this, and most of them contain some form of wheat, corn, or soy.

Here is a holistic pet food that you can compare it to …you be the judge!
